Funding Comes From The Newest Round Of the Highly Competitive Airport Terminal Grant Program
Schumer, Gillibrand: Bipartisan Infrastructure & Jobs Law Is Helping Upstate Airports From Buffalo To Albany Reach New Heights
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has just awarded Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse and Binghamton’s airports a total of nearly $25 million in competitive federal funding. The funding comes from the Airport Terminal Program, created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Law.
“From Buffalo to Albany to Binghamton to Syracuse, the Bipartisan Infrastructure & Jobs Law is giving our Upstate airports the lift they need fly higher than ever before. This major nearly $25 million federal investment will help these much needed renovations for modern airport terminals takeoff,” said Senator Schumer. “As majority leader, I am proud to have led the Bipartisan Infrastructure & Jobs Law to passage and to land this significant boost in funding for Upstate airports to give our travelers the modern facilities they need to help the economies from Western NY, the Southern Tier, CNY, and the Capital Region soar.”
“New York’s airports welcome millions of travelers each year and play a critical role in facilitating tourism, spurring local economic growth, and creating good-paying jobs across our state,” said Senator Gillibrand. “I fought to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure & Jobs Law to provide funding like this to airports from Albany to Buffalo and I’ll keep working to make sure that every airport has the resources it needs to modernize its facilities and enhance safety.”
