Today, U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand announced that the Town of Prattsburgh has received a Water and Waste Disposal Loan for $1,155,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program. The Town of Prattsburgh will use funding to replace approximately 5,350 linear feet of water main along with various rehabilitation and upgrades to the water treatment facility and well source.
“This USDA Rural Development funding will help Prattsburgh replace over 5,000 feet of water main and make critical upgrades, including ones to the local water treatment facility,” said Senator Schumer. “I’m pleased to announce this important investment that will improve water quality, safeguard public health and increase quality of life for residents.”
“When we invest in key water infrastructure like this, we can deliver clean drinking water to more Prattsburgh families, and help strengthen the local economy,” Senator Gillibrand said. “Upgrading water infrastructure is an effective way to attract new businesses and support new local jobs. And by making these investments at the federal level, we can hold the line on property taxes to help Prattsburgh families keep more of what they earn.”
The USDA Rural Development’s mission is to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for rural residents. USDA Rural Development fosters growth in homeownership, finances business development, and supports the creation of necessary community and technology infrastructure.
