Washington, DC – U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $100,000 in federal funding for the Town of Arcadia in Wayne County. The funding is provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grants program. Specifically, 24,000 feet of new water line will be constructed at Stebbins Road, Stuart Avenue, Tellier Road, Whitbeck Road, and NYS Route 31 West. This project will help deliver potable water to 89 residents.
“This federal investment is great news for public health in the Town of Arcadia and Wayne County,” said Senator Schumer. “These federal funds will allow the Town of Arcadia to refurbish and modernize its water distribution system by constructing and installing new water line, helping to ensure that all residents have access to the safe and clean drinking water they deserve. I am proud to announce this federal investment and will continue fighting to ensure rural communities across Upstate New York have the resources they need to build, protect and maintain their infrastructure.”
“Access to clean and reliable drinking water is critical to improving the quality of life in our rural communities,” said Senator Gillibrand, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee. “This investment will expand the Town of Arcadia’s water system, helping to deliver safe drinking water to 89 additional residents. I will always fight to ensure that all New Yorkers have the resources they need to access clean drinking water.”
