“Two years ago, the right-wing majority of the Supreme Court ripped away the rights to bodily autonomy, privacy and reproductive care. Since then, states across the country have criminalized basic reproductive health care, threatened to charge medical professionals with felonies for doing their jobs, and denied millions of women access to essential medical care. It remains as outrageous today as it was two years ago.
The vast majority of Americans believe that these rights are fundamental and they have made that clear every time the issue has been put on the ballot. I am optimistic we’ll see similar results this November, including in New York. At the same time, I will continue working on federal legislation to restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land and to ensure women have the rights to make health decisions about their own bodies, to access contraception, to utilize IVF, and more.
Women deserve freedom and bodily autonomy — and we will not stop fighting until we restore every American’s right to reproductive freedom.”
