U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand released the following statement on the 10-year anniversary of the death of Trayvon Martin:
“Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the death of Trayvon Martin, a 17-year old boy who was senselessly robbed of his future, murdered while returning home from a store. His death sparked a movement whose ripples we continue to feel today, as we continue to fight for equity and justice.
While we still have much work to do, let us never forget Trayvon, as we march forward, fighting for change. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
