Washington,
D.C. – In response to the shootings at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in
Washington, D.C., U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand issued the following
statement:
“I am outraged and heartbroken by the terrible act
of hate carried out today at our precious national memorial to one of history’s
worst atrocities. This is yet another stark reminder that we must recommit our
efforts to combat anti-Semitism and religious intolerance and provide the
resources necessary to protect our non-profit and religious institutions.
“I am thankful for the D.C. first responders on the scene who acted swiftly to
prevent more violence. My thoughts and prayers are with the security guard’s
family, who lost a loved one in this senseless tragedy.”
