Gillibrand Announces Senate Panel Approves $300,000 For Kiryas Joel

Jul 31, 2009

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced that late yesterday the
Senate Appropriations Committee approved $300,000 to help make
infrastructure upgrades in Kiryas Joel. Senator Gillibrand aggressively
lobbied members of the Appropriations Committee to include funding for
the project in this year’s spending bill.

“This
is great news for Kryas Joel,” Senator Gillibrand said. “Investing in
infrastructure projects will help create jobs and help rebuild our
economy. I will continue working hard to ensure New York gets its fair
share from the federal government.”

The Village of Kiryas
Joel will use the $300,000 federal investment for roadway paving,
widening and drainage, traffic signals, and pedestrian safety sidewalks
and curbs. The investment will help upgrade infrastructure, create jobs
and help provide economic growth for the Hudson Valley.

Late
yesterday, the Appropriations Bill for Transportation, Housing and
Urban Development passed the full committee. The legislation will head
to the floor for a full vote before the Senate. The bill will then
proceed to the House-Senate Conference Committee, before final passage
in both chambers, and sent to the President to become law.
