Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced that late yesterday, the
Senate Appropriations Committee approved $400,000 to help improve
County Road 97, Nicolls Road in Suffolk County. Senator Gillibrand
aggressively lobbied members of the Appropriations Committee to include
funding for the project in this year’s spending bill.
“This
is great news for Suffolk County,” Senator Gillibrand said. “Investing
in our infrastructure will help improve our roads and make them safer
for our travelers, create jobs and help rebuild our economy. I will
continue working hard to ensure New York gets its fair share from the
federal government.”
Suffolk County will use the $400,000 federal investment to help make capacity and safety improvements to CR 97, Nicolls Road.
Late yesterday, the Appropriations Bill for Transportation, Housing and
Urban Development passed the full committee. The legislation will head
to the floor for a full vote before the Senate. The bill will then
proceed to the House-Senate Conference Committee, before final passage
in both chambers, and sent to the President to become law.
