U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $1,026,000 in federal funding is being awarded to the Oswego County Airport to rehabilitate its taxiway and upgrade its lighting and electrical systems, including the purchase of a new transformer. In addition, the Senators announced $519,000 in federal funding would also be awarded to Oswego County Airport for the rehabilitation of taxiway “E” and the purchase of aircraft deicing equipment. The funding is allocated through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program.
“I am pleased to add this one and a half million dollar grant to the list of ‘arrivals’ at Oswego County Airport,” said Senator Schumer. “The funding will help Oswego County Airport repave its taxiway, upgrade its lighting and electrical systems and purchase new deicing equipment, which are all critical safety measures for passengers flying in and out of Oswego.”
“Investing in our transportation infrastructure is one of the best ways to strengthen our economy,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These federal funds for Oswego County Airport can help deliver better, safer service for travelers and businesses, and help keep our economy on the move.”
The federal funding for Oswego County Airport will specifically be used to purchase all new lighting, a new transformer, and rehab a significant portion of the taxiway, which was in need of repairs. Oswego County Airport has not seen such a sizeable improvement to its infrastructure in over 20 years.
