Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand introduced legislation to name the United States Post Office, located at 26 E. Genesee St. in Baldwinsville, New York, after Kyle Schneider, a fallen Marine. Marine Corporal Schneider grew up in the Town of Lysander, New York, where he graduated from C.W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville in 2006.
“Marine Corporal Schneider is truly a hometown hero,” Senator Gillibrand said. “He made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, serving with honor, integrity and dignity. Naming the Baldwinsville Post Office after him will honor his legacy in his community.”
Rick and Lorie Schneider said, “We are honored that Congresswoman Buerkle and U.S. Senator Gillibrand would honor Kyle’s legacy in naming the United States Post Office in Baldwinsville after him.”
One month prior to his death, Kyle Schneider was knocked unconscious by an improvised explosive device (IED), but through his determination, was back out with the other Marines within two days. Schneider died in Afghanistan on June 30, 2011 from a second IED. For Kyle’s tour of duty, he received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with “V” Device for Valor, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the ISAF NATO Medal, and he was awarded two Purple Heart Medals.
