U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that a $66,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has been awarded to the Piseco Airport in Hamilton County. The grant will be used to remove obstructions and will improve safe airport operations.
“Keeping our airports safe is essential to the well-being of passengers and pilots,” said Schumer. “By removing obstructions on the runway it will be easier and safer for pilots to take-off and land at the airport. I will continue to fight for funds that improve the Piseco Airport and all airports in New York.”
“This is a great investment for the Piseco Airport,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support job creation and bring critical updates for the airport. I will continue working with Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional Delegation to make sure New York gets its fair share from the federal government.”
According to the DOT grant these funds will go towards the removal of trees at Runway 22 and enhance safe airport operations at Piseco Airport.
