Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $180,000 for the Finger Lakes Regional Airport from the Federal Aviation Administration. The federal funding will be used by the airport to rehabilitate taxiway A.
“This Department of Transportation grant will ensure that Finger Lakes Regional can continue to safely serve residents, businesses and visitors to region for years to come,” said Senator Schumer. “Maintaining a safe runway is essential for the success and growth of Finger Lakes Regional airport.”
“This is a smart investment for Finger Lakes Regional Airport,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These upgrades can help provide better, safer service for travelers, and help create better access to the beauty of the Finger Lakes to help strengthen the local economy.”
Specifically, these federal funds will go toward improving the drainage system, edge lighting system and airfield signage and markings, which will allow pilots to see the limits of the taxiway more clearly.
