Washington, DC – With three days left before funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security runs out, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today released the following statement urging Congress to quickly pass a bill that would fully fund DHS:
“A fully funded Department of Homeland Security is vitally important to ensuring the safety of New Yorkers and Americans across the country. While there are strong opinions on both immigration and national security, that debate cannot interrupt our ability to protect our nation. We need to pass a bill free of policy riders and give DHS the resources it needs to prevent terrorist threats against our cities, keep our borders secure and our trade and transportation hubs working.”
