Senators Schumer and Gillibrand Announce Over $86,000 in Department of Transportation Funding for Essex County’s Ticonderoga Municipal Airport

Jun 3, 2009

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand
today announced a $86,792 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant for the
Town of Ticonderoga Municipal Airport. The grant will be used to rehabilitate
the Ticonderoga Municipal Airport runway.

“This is great news for Essex County,” said
Schumer. “This funding will improve the runway at Ticonderoga Municipal Airport
and lay the foundation for future economic growth in the aviation and
technology sectors. I will continue to support funds that support
infrastructure improvements to improve aviation in New York.”

“This is a great investment for the Ticonderoga Municipal
Airport,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support job
creation, improve critical infrastructure and enhance safety for travelers. I
will continue working with Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional
Delegation to make sure New York gets its fair share from the federal
government.”

According to the DOT grant, these funds will provide federal funding to restore
the runway of the Airport. The rehabilitation of the runway will significantly
enhance operational safety by correcting an existing line-of-sight problem at
the airport.
