Gillibrand Announces Key Senate Panel Approves $400,000 For Niagara Falls International Airport

Jul 31, 2009

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that the Senate
Appropriations Committee approved $400,000 to help rehabilitate a
runway at Niagara Falls International Airport. Senator Gillibrand
aggressively lobbied members of the Appropriations Committee to include
funding for the project in this year’s spending bill.

“This
is great news for the Niagara Falls International Airport,” Senator
Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support job creation,
bring critical updates for the airport and improve safety for our
travelers. I will continue working hard to make sure New York gets its
fair share from the federal government.”

Niagara Falls
International Airport will use the $400,000 federal investment to
resurface the main runway to create a smooth operating surface – a
critical infrastructure improvement that will ensure safe aircraft
movement and help keep flights on time.

Late
yesterday, The Appropriations Bill for Transportation, Housing and
Urban Development passed the full committee. The legislation will head
to the floor for a full vote before the Senate. The bill will then
proceed to the House-Senate Conference Committee, before final passage
in both chambers, and sent to the President to become law.
