Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand released the following statement on the release of New Yorker Ryan Corbett from Taliban detention in Afghanistan:
“I am incredibly grateful that Ryan Corbett has been freed and is set to be reunited with his family and friends. For years, I have been working with the Biden administration, Leader Schumer, and Ryan’s wife, Anna, to help secure Ryan’s safe passage back home. I want to thank everyone involved with this effort for their unwavering and tireless work. I wish Ryan and his family all the best as they move forward. I will continue to work to secure the release of George Glezmann, Mahmood Habibi, and all other Americans wrongfully detained across the world.
