New York City, NY – U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand issued the following joint statement on the ongoing efforts to respond to the swine flu emergency in New York City and the rest of the country:
“We have been in touch with the City and CDC authorities to ensure that New York has the resources on hand to respond to this outbreak. We commend Commissioner Frieden and his team for their ongoing response efforts.
“Our number one focus right now is making sure our schools are safe for our children. While we continue gathering information and working hard to prepare for wide scale emergency, we do not have a clear picture of the problem at this time. Everyone should remain vigilant and stay home if they are exhibiting any symptoms of the virus.”
