U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced a
$151,626 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant
for the Great Binghamton Airport. The grant will be used to acquire snow
removal equipment which will allow for more efficient cleaning of runways
during adverse winter weather conditions.
“These funds are
a win-win for the Greater Binghamton Airport,” said Schumer. “It is important
that our airports operate safely and efficiently under all weather conditions
and the new snow removal equipment will help keep the airport running smoothly
even in the dead of winter.”
“This is a great investment for the Greater Binghamton Airport,” Senator
Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will help improve infrastructure,
enhance safety for travelers and help keep more flights on time. I will
continue working with Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional Delegation
to make sure New York gets its fair share from the federal government.”
According to the DOT
grant, these funds will be used to replace snow removal equipment at the
Greater Binghamton Airport/ Edwin A. Link Field.
