Senator Kirsten Gillibrand released the following statement on Governor Hochul signing a bill to protect the Hudson River from Indian Point decommissioning wastewater:
“I applaud Governor Hochul for signing this bill into law to prevent the radioactive water at Indian Point from being released into the Hudson River, which is a vital waterway with immense environmental, economic, and cultural importance. I will continue working with all stakeholders to determine viable alternatives for addressing the radioactive water, while also ensuring that the decommissioning of Indian Point proceeds in a safe and timely manner that protects the surrounding communities and the Hudson for generations to come.”
