Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand issued the following statement today applauding BAE System’s decision to remain in the Southern Tier, keeping 1,350 local jobs.

“I am incredibly pleased to hear BAE Systems will remain in Binghamton. Even in the face of a difficult economy, and coping with damage from natural disasters, the Southern Tier is a place where businesses can grow and thrive,” said Senator Gillibrand. “I applaud the leaders at BAE Systems for their commitment to remaining in New York, and look forward to continuing to work to support New York businesses, attract new businesses, and create jobs where they are needed.”

“We are grateful to Senator Gillibrand for her leadership and support in the months following the flooding.  We look forward to continuing to work with her as we face the challenges ahead of us in New York’s Southern Tier,”  said Dan Gobel, President, BAE Systems Controls, Inc

When BAE Systems announced its intentions to leave its damaged Johnson City location, Senator Gillibrand reached out to the business encouraging them to stay. Senator Gillibrand’s full letter to President and CEO Linda Hudson is attached.
