Gillibrand Announces senate Passage Of $400,000 For Niagara International Airport

Sep 17, 2009

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced the Senate passed the
Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill,
which included $400,000 to help rehabilitate a runway at Niagara Falls
International Airport. Senator Gillibrand aggressively lobbied members
of the Appropriations Committee to include funding for the project in
this year’s spending bill.

“This
is great news for the Niagara Falls International Airport,” Senator
Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support job creation,
bring critical updates for the airport and improve safety for our
travelers. I will continue working hard to make sure New York gets its
fair share from the federal government.”

Niagara Falls
International Airport will use the $400,000 federal investment to
resurface the main runway to create a smooth operating surface – a
critical infrastructure improvement that will ensure safe aircraft
movement and help keep flights on time.

With
Senate passage, the bill will now proceed to the House-Senate
Conference Committee, then voted on in both chambers and sent to the
President to become law.
