U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand
today announced that a $332,500 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant
has been allocated to the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport in Warren County. The
grant will be used to prepare an environmental assessment with preliminary
engineering to extend the runway at the airport. This is needed to provide the
required length for current and anticipated aircraft traffic.
“Investing in these critical infrastructure upgrades
will enhance the safety and sustainability of the Floyd Bennett Memorial
Airport,” said Schumer. “These improvements will help the airport provide its
continued excellent service to the flying public. I will continue to fight for
funding to maintain and upgrade all New York airports.”
“This is a great investment for the Floyd Bennett Memorial
Airport,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support job
creation and bring critical updates for the airport. I will continue working
with Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional Delegation to make sure New
York gets its fair share from the federal government.”
According to the DOT grant, these funds will be used to
prepare an environmental assessment with preliminary engineering to extend the
runway at Floyd Memorial Airport in Warren County.
